Tamil Nadu rains: At least 14 dead; Chennai badly affected

Chennai, Tamil Nadu: Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are likely to experience less heavy rainfall from November 12, the India Meteorological Department said on Thursday.

Under the influence of a depression in the Bay of Bengal, heavy rains were experienced in the south coastal districts of Prakasam and SPS Nellore and the Rayalaseema districts of Chittoor and Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh.

The India Meteorological Department said that the depression crossed north Tamil Nadu and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts close to Chennai on Thursday evening with a maximum sustained wind speed of 45–55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph.

Light to moderate rainfall predicted at most places with heavy rainfall at isolated places likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema south interior Karnataka and Kerala on November 12.
